The Mathematics and Computer Science Department at Central Missouri State University is looking forward to hosting the Spring Meeting of the Missouri Section of the Mathematical Association of America. The meeting will be held on our campus in Warrensburg, Missouri on April 14 and 15, 2000. We encourage everyone, both students and teachers, to submit abstracts for contributed papers at the meeting.
The Fifth Annual Missouri MAA Collegiate Mathematics Competition will be contested on Thursday evening, April 13 and Friday morning, April 14. Complete details appear later in this newsletter.
Allen Schwenk from Western Michigan University will be our featured speaker on Friday afternoon. Rhonda McKee, the 1999 recipient of the Missouri Section Award for Distinguished College or University Teaching of Mathematics, will be our banquet speaker. Donald Albers, the Associate Executive Director of the MAA, will be our featured MAA speaker on Saturday morning.
In addition, we would like to offer the use of our Electronic Classroom (EC) for any short courses or workshops which interested people may wish to offer to meeting attendees. This facility has a document camera, projection system, instructor computer workstation, and about 15 student computer workstations. All the workstations have internet access.

Professor Thomas Banchoff of Brown University and current President of MAA meets with students from Southeast Missouri State University before last year’s banquet while Professors Mangho Ahuja and Robert Sheets from Southeast Missouri listen. All student participants in the contest are encouraged to attend the banquet and the rest of the meeting. The featured speakers will discuss topics of interest to all students of mathematics.
